6 End User Adoption Resources for Office 365 and SharePoint 2013

As Simeon and I have been going around and speaking at SharePoint Saturdays on end user adoption, I thought I’d start list of our favorite links and community sites about the subject.

1.      Discover SharePoint – this is a free use case and adoption guide created by the Microsoft SharePoint Marketing team.  The Zip file has email templates and how to guides that are fantastic.  We reference this as a checklist all the time, it’s a GREAT set of tools.

Getting to know SharePoint:  What is SharePoint? SharePoint is about giving you and the people you work with a better way to get things done together. Check out the scenarios in this book to see some of the ways SharePoint can help you work better together.

Getting to know Office 365:  Office 365 is your personal Office and more. It lets you work from virtually anywhere on almost any device, whether you’re online or offline. It helps you do your best work, the way you want to, wherever you are. That means more powerful tools for creating content, better ways to work together, and easier ways to share.

SharePoint 2013 Adoption Guide:  Adoption of new technologies at work, like SharePoint, won’t happen all at once. In this paper, learn how to craft an effective plan, aligned with business goals, that will demonstrate how SharePoint will benefit business people personally, how it will make their job easier, and how it will address the pain points they experience at work.

SharePointAdoptionKit.zip:  The adoption kit contains resources to help you drive adoption as explained in the adoption guide, featuring a use case catalog, videos & how to guides, posters, and email templates.

2.      Quick Start Guide to Office 365 for Small and Medium Businesses – This is another great set of tools that are specific to Office 365 and rolling out from on-prem to SharePoint Online.

Users are the key to realizing the full potential of your investment in Office 365. To drive user adoption to its highest potential, use our proven change management strategy to clearly articulate the benefits of Office 365, build a community among your users, and provide the right help and support at the right times.

In this download package, you'll find the Change Management Guide for the Enterprise, which describes a proven, four-phase process that organizations have used to drive up new technology adoption and maximize their return on investment. A comprehensive set of samples and templates let you build a customized set of project planning documents and user awareness materials based on your specific organization's needs.

3.      Office 365 for Education – This is a great one if you are deploying Office 365 in an education scenario.

4.      Yammer Communities:  If you aren’t a part of these two communities I’d highly suggest you check them out.  You can ask questions and get them answered by other community members and Microsoft MVPs.  They are great and these two are some of the most active.

5.      Microsoft Office Division Demos - If you are a Microsoft partner (and even as a 1 person shop, you should be signed up as a partner to take advantage of all the benefits the Microsoft provides.) you can provision a demo site for free.  This Microsoft Office Demos portal allows you to setup demonstration environments and access demonstration guide materials for Office products without requiring a full local installation.  The Microsoft Office Demo environment consists of a personalized Office 365 trial tenant populated with demo-ready content. Once your Office 365 tenant is set up, you’ll be able to deliver effective demos that cover the full range of Office Products, such as Exchange, SharePoint, Lync, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. You will also have access to comprehensive demo guides that will allow customers or partners to experience the full breadth of the Office products. Ready to get started? Click on the Get Demo page and let us help you create a new demo today!

Note: Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines are available for those who cannot use Office 365 to perform their demos.

Office 365 Enterprise SKU trial tenant (subject to trial restrictions) or a Microsoft Azure VHD environment

Office Enterprise Hero Demo Guide, available from the Resources page

Microsoft Office Demos focus on a small set of "Hero" personas which are used to walk through the demo steps with minimal changes of user context. Talking script and click guideline documents for these demos, as well as more information on the demo environments can be found on the Resources page.  This would also be a great place to give the free Office 365 version of Content Panda a spin.

6.      SharePoint 2013 LinkedIn Group - This is a great group to be a part of post a question, post your own thoughts on the subject.

You best bet for helping your end users along with all of the great resources referenced above is to give the gift to your teams of the free version of Content Panda.  The install is easy and ready to go right off of our site.  Check it out here.

I’ll be gathering more resources on a weekly basis to add to our Content Panda Favorites.  If you have any to add, please put them in the comments.  Enjoy!

Cheers,
